A NOTE OF APPRECIATION
With profound gratitude, I write to express my appreciation for your support during the just concluded 120th Inaugural Lecture of our great University.
I sent invitation and despite your busy schedule and the foul weather, you honoured my invitation
I dissected the gains, challenges, and advances of newborn surgery in our developing world and despite the deafening roars of the agitators for “restructuring”, you listened attentively
I prepared some “take home messages” that weighed more than the titanic, and you took these gingerly (despite the weight) and have even started disseminating the messages; all because you want UNN to be in the forefront of Newborn Surgery in Africa and the developing world
I was a fan of UNN as Child; was fortunate to be educated by UNN as undergraduate (where discipline, love of fair play, integrity, and conscientiousness was/is the norm); was privileged to be a lecturer of UNN; was honoured to be a Professor of UNN; and now a past Inaugural Lecturer of UNN!
The cycle is not complete. A great lot awaits.
By the Grace of God I will be an Ambassador Plenipotentiary of UNN and strive to put and sustain UNN in the intellectual world map.
I am truly grateful to you and to UNN
Professor Sebastian Okwuchukwu Ekenze
Professor of Paediatric Surgery and the 120th Inaugural Lecturer of UNN
